Galopin is the French word for a scamp, the boy who runs off with the horse. The opening is dry and animalic in the polished sense: suede, saddle soap, a flash of something peppery. The heart is wood, sanded rather than smoky, warmed by a musk that keeps moving between clean and skin-like. It is a scent that smells better the closer you stand. The dry-down is where the leather softens into something almost tender, worn-in and warm, the inside of a jacket handed to someone else. The horse comes back on its own at dusk. The boy does not. Somebody will have to go and find him.
