The opening is candied citrus, peel that has been slow-cooked in syrup until the bitterness turns into brightness, glossy and a little sticky. The heart is amber at its most persuasive: warm, sweet, resinous, with an edible softness that makes it feel like something poured rather than sprayed. The citrus keeps it from becoming heavy, a thread of light running through the syrup. The dry-down is a smooth, long-lasting amber with a vanilla-tinged hush, the scent that stays on a scarf for days. He said no twice on the phone. In person, in this scent, he says yes before she has finished the sentence.
