You told yourself it was only one dance, and then the woods came in.
The club is half-lit and the air is thick with something ripe: a dark fruit that sits somewhere between juice and jam. It should feel childish. It does not. Beneath it a floral heart opens, lush and slightly narcotic, the kind of petals that seem to glow under low light. You lose track of the song. Then, as the night lengthens, the dry-down arrives: dry, skin-warm woods that settle in behind the fruit like a hand at the small of your back.
