The bet was placed before anyone saw his hand.
It opens with heat: a warm, resinous amber that fills the room before it settles, faintly sweet and faintly smoky at the same time. The woods arrive immediately beneath it, dry and dark, with the texture of a well-used desk. Then the leather, and this is where the scent shows its character: not soft glove leather but something with more bite, birch-like and faintly tarry, the smell of a jacket that has been through weather. The three settle into a dry-down that is long, dense and unmistakably confident, more presence than perfume. It is the scent of someone who has already decided, and who is waiting for you to catch up.
